How is this blog different from all other blogs? Well, for one thing, it invites you to join in the long tradition that began with the men of the Great Synagogue, continued through the periods of the Tannaim and the Amoraim, (teachers and interpreters), and continues today in churches and synagogues throughout the world. You have here the opportunity to contribute your questions and comments to an ongoing discussion of the most interesting, most important, most studied--and most often misunderstood--books ever written, the books of what Jews call the Tanak and Christians the Old Testament. To get started, here's a test of the History 413 blog system. If you don't already have one, please create for yourself a "Blogger" account by following the instructions at http://www.blogger.com/. Be sure to create a blogger profile which includes your e-mail address. Otherwise, I can't reply directly to your post.
To make sure your e-mail address is accessible to me, please log on to your blogger account. Click "edit profile" (toward the top on the right). Then click the box that says to make your e-mail address accessible.
When you have created your blogger account and your profile, click the "comments" link below, and answer one (1) of the following questions:
- Would you rather make comments on a blog, or write a term paper?
- Which Old Testament figure do you identify with the most, and why?
- Which is your favorite book of the Old Testament, and why?

I would rather write a comment on blog than write a paper.
The exit polls show that blogs are handily defeating term papers. If this were CNN, we could already be projecting a winner....
It looks like you must create a blogger profile in order for me to send an e-mail reply to your blog comments. A bit of extra work, but it shouldn't take too long. You might be interested in setting up a blog of your own while you are at it.
I would rather make comments on a blog than write a term paper.
I am also a fan of the blogs. They not only give us incentive to keep up with the readings, but we get to see what everyone else thinks about the passages. Happy Blogging!
Since everyone else is commenting on the first question I'm going to answer the third question. (But just for the record I would rather blog that write a term paper.) Anyway, my favorite book of the Old Testament is probably Ecclesiastes. Really the only basis I have for choosing this book is because it contains one of my favorite verses. I really enjoy the "Everything Has Its Time" section so that is why I chose Ecclesiastes.
Make comments on a blog or write a term paper? I will decide this the way I will decide who to vote for in the GOP primary.Since there isn't a real "Reagan republican" running for the nomination, this will involve a shiny quarter. Here we go, and the winner is.... comments on a blog. It's a South Carolina quarter. Irony?
I will also comment on the blog/term paper question. Blogs are a better way to go than term papers!
I would definetally blog instead of write a paper. I have to write enough as it is.
blog comments over paper, no debate about that.

I'd appreciate it all posters would log in to their blogger account, click "edit profile" (near the top on the right), and click the box in the "privacy" section that says to make your e-mail address accessible. Otherwise, I can't reply directly to your blog entry.
Thanks much.
I would rather write comments on a blog than write a paper as well, blogs help me to keep up to date on the readings for the class.
I would rather comment on a blog than right a term paper. It forces me to keep up with the readings and actively participate in class.
I really do like the blogs. It gives the students a chance to see what other students think of the material.
I would prefer posting comment on a blog over writing a term paper.
I would much rather have a blog then a term paper. With the amount of papers I already have for other classes. It's nice not to have to chop another tree.
would rather blog
I would rather write a blog than a term paper, primarily because I enjoy the casualness of it and being able to see what my classmates think also.
